About This Activity
Description
Students in grades 7-8 are invited to join this program to gain hands-on knowledge of our state government, by writing, presenting and debating their own piece of legislation. Participants will learn more about how the government operates and meet other students who are interested in Florida politics.
Students develop innovative thinking skills, leadership ability, debate skills and public speaking skills.
Students have the opportunity to present their piece of legislation at the annual Florida Youth in Government Assembly traditionally held at the State Capitol.
Students meet at their local middle school with a school advisor and Y representative.
Contact the Y for more information on how to register for your school program.
