Description
In this hands-on, three-day firing workshop, participants will learn glazing techniques and assist in firing their pots. Participants will be limited to firing up to 5 pots that are already bisque-fired and no larger than 8” in any direction. Prior experience is helpful but not necessary. All levels. Glazes will be provided.Day 1 (5/23) - Add terra sigilata to bone dry workDay 2 (5/30) - Glaze dayDay 3 (5/31) - Firing Day
Supplies needed: bisque fired pieces. Pieces made with Raku clay are preferable, as this will prevent cracking due to thermal shock. Raku clay is available for purchase at the front desk of the LCAC. Community glazes and tools will be provided. All levels.
On Fri May 23, students will add terra sigilata slip to their bone dry greenware pots, Fri May 30 participants will be glazing; on Sat May 31, participants will be firing their pieces.
Clothing Requirements: closed toe shoes and long pants.
