About This Activity
Description
Gain hands-on experience glazing and firing raku pottery. On day one, you’ll glaze up to five pots (each no taller than 8 inches) using provided raku glazes. On day two, you’ll assist with firing your pots in the raku style. Prior experience is helpful but not necessary. All levels.**All participants must wear a respirator with fume guards during this program.
Day 1 (4/17) - Glaze DayDay 2 (4/18) - Firing Day
Supplies needed: bisque fired pieces. Pieces made with Raku clay are preferable, as this will prevent cracking due to thermal shock. Raku clay is available for purchase at the front desk of the LCAC. Community glazes and tools will be provided. All levels.
**All participants must wear a respirator with fume guards during this program.
On Fri April 17, participants will be glazing and on Sat April 18, participants will be firing their pieces.
Clothing Requirements: closed toe shoes, long pants, a respirator with fume cartridges.
