DAY 1
Take a walk down memory lane to relive the days of Sheriff Andy Griffith with this trip to Mount Airy, NC to celebrate what would have been the year of Andy's 100th Birthday by visiting the charming town that served as the inspiration for the fictional Mayberry. Upon arrival in Mount Airy, NC, you check in at your host hotel (TBD) for a two-night stay. After a brief time to freshen up, you board the motorcoach for dinner held locally with entertainment to follow featuring, "An Evening with John Floyd: The Mouth of Mayberry. Relax and enjoy his family-friendly comedy that is guaranteed to tickle your funny bone and leave you with a night to remember. DDAY 2Wake to breakfast included at the hotel and prepare to dive into the world of Andy Griffith in Mount Airy, with a narrated driving tour of Mayberry where you pass iconic sights from the Andy Griffith Show like Floyd's Barber Shop, Mayberry Courthouse, Andy Griffith Playhouse, Snappy Lunch and more. Actor Andy Griffith grew up here and it is no coincidence that strolling or driving down Main Street reminds people of the 60's hit TV series. Following the tour, you have free time for lunch on your own and at your expense in one of the downtown restaurants, perhaps at Snappy Lunch, one of the oldest diners here and a place where Andy ate growing up. Additionally, you can stroll the quaint downtown and take time to visit the little shops as time permits. Next, admission is included for a guided tour of the Andy Griffith Museum and Playhouse, where you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the stage where Andy Griffith first performed and explore the extensive collection of memorabilia from his life and career including actual props from the show. Your day continues with admission to visit the Siamese Twin Museum just across the street, which tells the fascinating story of Eng and Chang Bunker for whom the term "Siamese twins" originated. The museum features artifacts, interactive displays, and audio-visual stations that chronicles their early lives, their international tours, their marriage and family life in North Carolina, and their deaths in 1874. Dinner this evening is included at a local restaurant and followed by an Old-time Bluegrass Show. It's an evening of toe-tapping, hand-clapping music that will leave you with a song in your heart and memories of a simpler time in Mayberry as we celebrate what would have been the year of Andy's 100th birthday. Following the performance, you return to the hotel to retire for the night. B, D
