I would love committed 3rd and 4th-grade students to sign up for Invention Convention! Over the course of 20 mandatory sessions, Thursdays from 3:10- 4:00, we will work through the entire Engineering Design Process. This group of individuals will be immersed in S.T.E.A.M. Students will work independently and in collaboration with each other to create impressive inventions that would help improve our everyday lives. In April, this group of students will accompany me to Kaleideum where they will compete against other schools. Our ultimate goal is to win at Kaleideum and attend Nationals in Washington D.C. at the end of May. At this time, it is believed to be Memorial Day weekend. These dedicated students will partake in research as well as go through the entire Engineering Design Process. Students that attend the camp must be driven and excited about science! Also, individuals have to be prepared to work hard and will gain public speaking advice and tips, as they will have to create a 4-6 minute pitch about their invention and speak to judges at Kaleideum. I will send information to the parents that sign up soon! I look forward to meeting my group of 16 amazing scientists on November 2nd! IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT REFUNDS, & VIRTUAL LEARNING. We regret that we cannot refund registration fees once paid. Makeup lessons for group classes, will not be available. Should FCDS transition to remote virtual learning, the school will assess its After School Enrichment programs to determine if they can be offered virtually. If a program cannot transition to a virtual platform, refunds will be issued accordingly. If a session continues virtually, then no refunds nor partial refunds will be processed in the event of this transition if a participant wishes not to continue to finish the session virtually.
