By popular demand, we have adapted the Minecraft Mod class to include revisions to the curriculum to allow students as young as 8 to join in. The students will be introduced to MCreator, a code-generating program that is used to make modifications without programming knowledge. The class will teach students to work with the code of other developers and to read and decipher preexisting code, a common practice in the software development field. No previous programming experience is required. A Minecraft account is needed for them to play the mods outside of class. To create an account, you can register at https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-bedrock-edition-pc. You can also purchase the game at any major retail/game store. Make sure that you are purchasing the Java version of the account, and not the console or bedrock version. It must say Java. * This class is oriented for grades 3-5. However, older students are welcome to register as long as they are aware they may be with younger students.
