About This Activity

Siege Alert! Get ready to duck and cover because this camp is all about launching flying tennis balls, eggs, and bags of Jell-O! In Siege Alert, participants will have the thrilling opportunity to design and construct their very own tabletop-sized catapult or trebuchet. Each student will begin with a kit containing a variety of materials including wood, steel, aluminum, and plastic parts. With these materials in hand, participants will unleash their creativity and engineering skills to bring their siege engine to life. But the fun doesn't stop there! Once the catapults and trebuchets are built, it's time for the ultimate field test. Students will put their inventions to the test in a series of exciting activities, launching projectiles and aiming for targets with precision and power. Throughout the camp, participants will also delve into the rich history of catapults, learning about their origins, development, and significance in warfare and engineering. Additionally, they'll explore the fascinating science behind catapults, discovering the principles of force, motion, and trajectory that govern these ancient war machines. So, if you're ready to embark on an adventure filled with engineering, excitement, and flying projectiles, then Camp Catapult is the camp for you! Join us as we catapult into fun and learning like never before! * This class is oriented for grades 3-5. However, older students are welcome to register as long as they are aware they may be with younger students.
