Metal Work & Forging In this hands-on camp, students will learn the basics of forging, shaping, and working with metal while building real skills and creating projects they can be proud of. This class is taught by Michael Noss, a Newton’s Attic STEM Summer Camp favorite who has been teaching with us for over 10 years. Michael credits Newton’s Attic with helping him develop his own forging skills, and he brings years of experience, patience, and enthusiasm to the shop. This year’s camp includes a special Friday afternoon with Hank Gevedon, a Kentucky-based master craftsman, toolmaker, teacher, blacksmith, and author of Bare Bones Toolmakers Apprentices Vol. 1. During the Friday addition, students will learn cold work from Hank, make a cold-pressed nickel arrowhead, help cook a fried rice lunch, and receive an autographed copy of Hank’s book — all included in the cost of the camp. This is a rare chance for students to learn from both a favorite Newton’s Attic instructor and a visiting master craftsman in one unforgettable week.
