Interested in teaching swim lessons?
Register today to become a Starfish Swimming Instructor! The Starfish Swimming Instructor certification course is a new offering that will train Instructor candidates to teach swim lessons using the Starfish Aquatics Institute lesson program. This course will develop their understanding of how to use program materials, how to conduct training sessions/lessons, and how to evaluate participants' progress.
This course includes an online component that must be completed prior to the start of the class. The online component takes approximately 10 hours to complete. The online learning will be assigned after registering for the class.
CLASS DATES & TIMES
- Thursday, March 12 / 9am-4pm
- Friday, March 13 / 9am-4pm
Prerequisite Test
- Instructor candidates MUST be at least 16 years old
- Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills (on the first day of class):
- Swim the following strokes consistent with Starfish Stroke School:
- Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Elementary Backstroke, Sidestroke - 25 yards
- Butterfly, Breaststroke - 15 yards
- Back float for 30 seconds (floating or sculling)
- Tread water for 1 minute
- Survival float for 2 minutes
Certification Requirements:
- Complete all online learning prior to the first class
- Attend all class sessions
- Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities
