Description

This activity is closed to further registration.

There are many tribes of Native Peoples in North America. We will talk about many of them before focusing in on California Native Americans and our local tribes in particular. Learn about the games they played and what plants they used as tools, and meals they ate and many other things that were a part of their daily lives.

  • LESSON 1 – 2/17 - NATIONAL TRIBES AND DIFFERING WAYS OF LIFE - Indiginous people have lived on this land for centuries across the nation. The wide variety of terrain and climate on our continent led to a wide variety of lifestyles and cultures. Join us to learn how the land influenced how people lived their lives.

  • LESSON 2 – 2/24 - CALIFORNIA TRIBES – California was home to many tribes of native peoples. Let talk about how the differed and what they had in common.

  • LESSON 3 – 3/3 - LOCAL ETHNOBOTANY – Plants have been (and still are!) used for everything from medicine and food to shelter and games. Join us to learn how our local plants were used by the native people of our area.

  • LESSON 4 – 3/10 - LOCAL WAY OF LIFE – Today we will explore tools used by native people to make their everyday lives easier and more enjoyable. What did they hunt with? How did they prepare food? What games did they play? Let’s find out by looking at some replicas of California Indian artifacts.
