This Learn-to-Row camp is an into course where rowers age 13-18 years will have a chance to try the sport of rowing in a fun and safe way. They will learn rowing terminology, learn how to handle the equipment, develop a basic set of rowing skills and also practice race starts on-and-off the beach. Training will take place in one- and two- person ocean boats as well as the typical classic rowing shells. The camp will give an introduction to rowing with focus on both types of rowing that Long Beach will host in the 2028 Olympics: Classic rowing and coastal rowing/beach sprints. Camp will spend time on the beach, but starts and ends at the boathouse. Participants must know how to swim and must wear shoes to each practice.
