About This Activity
Description
Spend summer learning bike repair, joining fun rides and earning community service hours! Are your teens looking for something fun to do, or are they looking to earn community service hours?
Wrench & Ride is for them! Beginning July 14 through August 15, Tuesday and Thursday from 10a-1p, teens (ages 12+) can join us at Crenshaw YMCA learning bike repair skills while repairing bikes to be adopted and then join a fun ride after.
Repair Workshops: Teens will learn about fixing flats, cleaning chains, adjusting brakes and more. They'll learn about bike parts and tools in a safe and engaging environment, working alongside Walk 'n Rollers' instructors and mechanics.
Fun rides: Explore new communities while learning road safety, best practices for safe riding and route planning. Helmets, locks, lights and other items will be included.
Students can participate as they are available - one week or all. They can do the repair workshops only or join the rides only, or do both! They also have the option of earning community service hours for their time.
We also offer an Earn-a-Bike program where the students choose a bike to work on and have the option of keeping the bike (minimum four sessions required)
Cost: Free.
All sessions are held at the Crenshaw YMCA 3820 Santa Rosalia Drive, Los Angeles, Ca 90008 (back parking lot)
