Teacher: Esther Meier Outdoor Classes: We will begin our year by having 3 classes outdoors on the first 3 Saturdays in October. (We will also end the school year with 3 outdoor classes!) Parents are asked to park in the surrounding streets and don masks before walking into the Frank Allis Elementary School grounds. Playground equipment will be closed and caution tape used to discourage children from playing in close proximity to one another. A parent is asked to attend with their child and stay for the entire class time. Parents are also asked to bring a blanket with them, and sit behind their child at the red cones surrounding the teacher and spaced 6 feet apart. Make Up Policy: If weather looks too rainy or cold, class will be cancelled 24 hours in advance and be replaced with a ZOOM class. All parents will be emailed by the school for the cancellation, and emailed by the teacher with the ZOOM log-in information. IF an outdoor class is switched to ZOOM, we have reserved October 24th as an additional day to meet together in the park. If no outdoor classes are canceled, then Oct. 24 will be a ZOOM day as previously scheduled. Online Classes: We have found that younger kids often find it hard to attend a scheduled ZOOM class, so we are creating two monthly ZOOM times for families to work together with the teacher on speaking and pronunciation and making a personal connection. Also, your student will receive a weekly email with a prerecorded lesson uploaded to YouTube from your teacher. These lessons are meant to be watched by the child with their parents, to hear the German lesson and then do the associated activities during/afterwards. The monthly ZOOM will be used to reinforce these weekly lessons and is completely optional.
