About This Activity
Did you know you could sew electric circuits instead of soldering? In this project, you will create your very own stuffed felt character that lights up, using conductive thread and sew-on electronic components. You will also customize your creation with hats, bowties, glasses, etc. The felt shapes will be cut using our laser cutters. You will learn about basic circuitry, sewing, and laser cutting. This project is open to students 10-15 years old, with a parent or chaperone (18+) required. The cost is $40 per student, but thanks to BAE Systems' partnership with the Design Challenge, participants will receive a 50% discount this year. In addition to the hands-on experience, students will also learn about the Fab Lab Design Challenge. Registration is now open on Active, with space available for up to 10 students.
