About This Activity
In this immersive week exploring Health Science, young scientists take on the role of Disease Detectives exploring the biological and psychosocial impacts of epidemics on individuals and groups. Instead of traditional lab work, these young scientists delve into disease etiology—the study of how illnesses begin and spread—using interactive simulations and real-world data. From tracing the origins of local outbreaks to understanding the impact of global pandemics, students will discover diverse careers in public health, medicine, and research. The week culminates in an Epidemiological Investigation, where squads step into the shoes of global health heroes, working together to analyze evidence, map the spread of a simulated epidemic, and propose sustainable solutions (SDGs) to protect our future.
