OVERVIEW The Junior Counselor Leadership Program (JCLP) prepares rising 10th-12th Grade Augusta Prep Upper School Students to discover their authentic leadership style and have a positive impact on their community. Participation in the JCLP is an opportunity for students to further develop the life skills of leadership, communication, and collaboration, as they gain experience in planning and instructing activities for children enrolled in Camp Cavalier Summer Programs. This program is an excellent opportunity to strengthen leadership skills that will impact each participant throughout their life. Through a carefully designed curriculum and daily practical experiences, participants will learn about behavior management, health and safety, communication, decision making, team building, and more. Job Description The Junior Camp Counselor reports directly to the Director of Extra-Curricular Programs and is responsible for aiding in the supervision of all camp participants. Junior Camp Counselors will be responsible for assisting the Camp Director in daily administration of the Summer Camp Program, including ensuring the well-being and safety of all participants, administering games and activities, providing daily feedback to the Director of Extra-Curricular Programs, filling out paperwork, and maintaining daily logs, and maintaining a fun and safe environment for the participants. Requirements: Must be at least 15 years or older. Maintain current Adult and Child CPR/AED certifications (provided during training). Must be available to work Mondays – Fridays, between 7 am-4 pm. Must be able to attend mandatory training sessions May 25 - May 27; must be available for 3 consecutive weeks during camp which runs from June 1st through July 30. The deadline to submit the online application to be considered in the Junior Counselor Leadership Program is Friday, March 12, 2021.
