Students will dive into the process of bringing a musical theater song to life by working as a group on an audition-style portion of a song. Students will learn music, staging, and performance technique, and the class will also focus on character work: making bold acting choices, connecting to lyrics, and developing a strong point of view. This class is designed to strengthen audition and callback skills in order to help performers stand out with confidence and specificity. Students will have the opportunity (but are never required) to perform their work for the class in a supportive, low-pressure environment. (Students should be in this age range by the first day of class.)
