In this weeklong immersive camp, students learn French through short animated films using a research-based approach called Comprehensible Input—the same method used by many highly effective language teachers, including ours here at Harding Academy! Each day features a new 3–5 minute short film (think, Pixar-style). Campers learn to understand, discuss, and retell the story in French using simple, high-frequency sentences. Learning happens through conversation, movement, games, art, and storytelling in a joyful, low-pressure environment. 🎥 Campers will: Watch and talk about short films in French Describe characters, emotions, and actions Act out scenes and create illustrated stories Build confidence using simple, complete sentences 🌍 Perfect for: Upper elementary students ready to move beyond single words Creative kids who love stories and movies Beginners—no prior French needed 🎬 Not screens all day—just short films paired with lots of interaction, creativity, and big language gains! Lindsey Pence teaches this class. Mrs. Pence is a Harding Academy upper school French teacher. Mrs. Pence has a BA in French. She teaches French I, French II, and Honors French. She is excited to teach French this summer to our younger students in this fun, exciting camp!
