About This Activity
The Comic Character Creation Class is an art class with a comic book twist. Students will learn techniques that combine fine art and design skills with goal-setting strategies that empower them to bring their characters to life from concept to finished design. Each class tackles a new character, exploring how to draw it and what makes the design successful. At the end of the session, students will take home their comic book designs. This class will be taught by Martheus Wade, owner of MAW Productions. https://mawproductionsllc.com/ A University of Memphis graduate, Martheus combines his love for pop culture with his illustration talent in his work as a graphic designer, art director, and comic book illustrator. After gaining experience at Signature Advertising, Oates Design, and Redmond Design, he launched his freelance career, working with clients including Lucasfilm, Hasbro Toys, IDW Publishing, Universal Pictures, the Memphis Grizzlies, OrthoMemphis, and organizations like the YWCA, Girl Scouts Heart of the South, and Special Olympics. No class on Friday, March 16, and Friday, April 3.
