About This Activity

Spring Treats Workshop Join us for a delicious hands-on baking adventure! Young bakers will create three springtime favorites from scratch: flaky homemade pop tarts with sweet fillings, classic strawberry shortcake with fresh berries and whipped cream, and a beautiful Bumbleberry pie bursting with mixed berries. Students will learn essential baking skills, including preparing and working with dough, accurately measuring ingredients, and following recipes step-by-step. We'll explore the science and math behind baking—understanding how ingredients interact, why temperatures matter, and how ratios affect our results. Along the way, kids will develop confidence in the kitchen while discovering that baking is both a creative art and a delicious science. Perfect for young bakers ready to roll up their sleeves and enjoy their homemade creations! Gabi Ruvalcaba '24 teaches this class. Gabi has cultivated a love and passion for baking since an early age. She enjoys watching baking shows and collecting cookbooks to expand her repertoire. Gabi regularly bakes for her family and has been commissioned by friends and community members to create special treats for birthday parties and celebrations.
