About This Activity
The PRC Buddy Werner (BW) Team is a Sunday program that has been the mainstay and success of Powderhorn Racing Club over the last 30+ years. The program will cater to the younger and less experienced athlete who wants to improve their all-around skiing skills while providing an introduction to youth ski racing. The entry skiing level for the PRC Buddy Werner Team is a Mountain 4 skier. A Mountain 4 skier can ski all green runs on Powderhorn Mountain and can stop, get up on their own and can link wedge turns comfortably on green runs. If your child is not capable of skiing all green runs on Powderhorn Mountain, they are not ready for the PRC Buddy Werner. The PRC Buddy Werner Team will meet for 8 regularly scheduled training days. Expect the average coach to skier ratio to be 8-10 team members with the same coach for the entire training year. The PRC Buddy Werner/Pre-Development Team will emphasize: fundamental ski development through drills, all mountain free skiing and drill courses; about 15% of the on hill training time will be in gates to prepare for 2 local races and the Buddy Werner State Race. The primary focus of this team will be on all-mountain skiing improvement. Coaches will build a passion for skiing through a great experience on the mountain with a focus on fun, friends, and skill improvement. Program Details: Start Date Jan. 5th (Sunday program for 8 weeks) Typical Day: 9:20am Meet coach hillside 9:30 – 11:30 on hill skiing and/or gate training 11:30 –12:30pm Lunch (on your own with adult supervision) 12:30 – 3:00pm on hill skiing and/or gate training Race Schedule: TBD Buddy Werner Western Council Championships (State Race): For athletes attending we will have a training day Mar. 1st Mar. 2nd: M/W GS Beaver Creek
