About This Activity
Description
Dear LIT Applicants and Families:
In 2025, the Carls Family YMCA transitioned the Teen Summer Camp Program to a Leaders in Training Program (LIT). The Leaders in Training program is a fantastic opportunity for young teens to shoulder responsibility, work directly with youth in their community, be safety-conscious and learn a variety of leadership skills.Your interest in participating in this program speaks well of your character and we look forward to your application. It is important to understand that the Leaders in Training Program is a vastly different experience than just being a regular camper. Being a LIT at Carls Family YMCA Camp will be a challenging, rewarding and fun experience.
Days spent as a LIT will be packed with an array of activities and challenges. It is critical to understand that being a LIT is a responsibility. We ask that you read over the items listed below with your family before you send in your application to the Y.
Be sure that you are willing and prepared to meet the challenges presented by this role. You will be asked to interview for this program as if you were applying for a job. Treat your interview as you would any job interview, be punctual and professional and be prepared to tell us why you are the right person for the role.
• LIT behavior standards are dramatically higher than that of a camper.• LIT’s must always be willing to participate with enthusiasm.• LIT’s are expected to be ready to learn everyday.
If you’re ready to take on the challenge of being an LIT then we encourage you to fill out the rest of this application. Once we receive the application, we will contact you to verify your interest and discuss the program further. Pending a successful application and interview, you will receive a letter confirming your placement in the LIT program.
Thanks again for your interest in becoming an LIT at Carls Family YMCA for the summer of 2027.
Sincerely,Olivia WyseYouth and Family DirectorCarls Family YMCA
