About This Activity
Description
Calling all jazz lovers and aspiring composers!
The Jazz Composers Ensemble is a new, hands-on, collaborative group designed for adult and advanced teen musicians who want to deepen their understanding of jazz through both performance and composition.
Over a 12-week session, participants will first explore and perform classic jazz standards (Weeks 1–4), then dive into composing original works for the group (Weeks 5–8), and finally rehearse and refine those pieces for a culminating performance (Weeks 9–12).
This is a unique opportunity to both study the greats and develop your own voice as a jazz composer—all in a supportive, creative environment with like-minded musicians. Bring your ideas, your instrument, and your passion for jazz!
