This workshop focuses on the traditional methods of painting in oil. Students will learn about materials, color mixing, light and form, academic principles of hue, value and chroma, discuss eminent art pieces/artists/history and then apply this learning through three methods of painting: direct, indirect (Flemish/Dutch) and alla prima. While not required as a prerequisite, the Classical Drawing Summer at Blake course is a good segway into painting. This course is taught by local award-winning and critically acclaimed poetess, author, writer and realist painter, and strategy/life consultant and coach Kamlika Chandla. You can find more information on her website www.kamlikachandla.com. Weather appropriate footwear and clothing for both artmaking and outdoor periods should be worn daily. Participants need to bring a nut-free snack and refillable water bottle each day. All materials are provided.
