Description
In this summer session class students will be practicing ballet & jazz dance technique in a classroom setting. During the ballet portion, students will use the barre, practice allegro, adagio, and develop a French ballet vocabulary. Students should be able to maintain correct posture and turnout throughout the entire class. Class emphasis is on the enjoyment of dance within the respect and discipline of classical dance training. Dancers at this level going on, or already dancing on pointe are expected to attend classes throughout the summer in order to keep up their physique. Our primary focus is technique, following the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. Our focus will be movements such as turns, leaps, jumps, and kicks, as well as basic and more complex dance steps, choreography, and progressions.Please check the dance resources page on our website for information on what your dancer will need for this class, including uniform, tights and shoes.
