For the storytellers and the daydreamers, this camp will encourage kids to explore, practice, and embrace a love for creative writing. Campers will play games, create characters, delve into literature, and most importantly, write. Each camper will get the chance to practice and engage with writing in the way they find most enjoyable, whether that be poetry, short stories, nonfiction, graphic novels, screenwriting, novels, etc. By the end of the week, campers will have a small book containing a short story, comic, collection of poetry, or the beginning of a larger script or novel. Fans of books, poetry, and film can gather to create stories that come from one's wildest imaginations. Creative Writing Camp instructor Jade Rabah holds a Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in creative writing. She is also a graduate of the 2023 Summer Publishing Institute at NYU. She has taught a Creative Writing Summer Camp at Woodlawn the past two years. Campers should bring a water bottle, nut-free snack & lunch each day. Campers will also need to bring a notebook, pencils/pens, and a computer (optional).
