About This Activity

Calling all Superheroes-in-Training! What's your superpower? Are you a fan of Batman, Super Girl, Team Paw Patrol or even one that only you know about! Theater Arts Mini Camp is back for an exciting five days of classes in storytelling, movement and scenic crafts and designs. This fun-filled week will hone the superhero within you using your imagination to the fullest. We will explore the spectrum of theater arts, focusing on improvisation, drama games, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, cooperation, mutual respect and the value of collaboration. By exploring different superhero stories and characters, students will learn important performance skills, such as creating characters, spatial awareness, theatrical design and problem solving skills. Each day we will begin actively engaging our minds and bodies, through theater games, physical and vocal warmups in fun ways. We will learn about a different superhero each day, as theater skills are incorporated into each activity. They will have a snack break and outside adventure time before lunch and then an additional break before the end of the day. We will explore superheroes within themselves and in their daily lives, as they work to create their own stories with a final performance at the end of the week. With their new found confidence and skills, they will be unstoppable! Join me on this journey of a lifetime! Molly Maginnis is the Theater teacher at Woodlawn School and has an extensive theater and arts background. Molly has a BFA in Theater Arts from Stephens College and has produced and directed the Lower School and Middle & Upper School theater productions at Woodlawn for the past two years. She also has over 15 years of experience teaching acting classes for several professional theater companies in the area.
