About This Activity

Instructor: Zehra Rizvi Step back in time and dive into the vibrant, 5,000-year-old tradition of Henna! This isn’t just a craft—it’s a journey across cultures. From the intricate patterns of India to the bold geometry of Morocco, students will transform their hands (and other canvases!) into living masterpieces. Whether you're a budding artist or someone who "can't draw a straight line," this camp is your playground. What’ll you do? We go beyond the surface. In this hands-on workshop, students will: Become a Henna Alchemist: Learn to mix, sift, and roll your own henna cones from scratch. You’ll master the chemistry behind the plant-based paste. Travel the Globe: Explore the rich history and unique regional styles from Africa, South Asia and West Asia. Master the Flow: Practice essential techniques—from delicate dots and vines to "the perfect peacock." Create Lasting Art: Practice on yourself and friends, and design a custom, permanent art piece to take home and display. Why Henna? It’s more than just a temporary "tattoo"—it’s a boost for the brain and the soul! Zero Pressure, Total Fun: No drawing experience? No problem! Henna is remarkably forgiving and accessible for every skill level. Safe & Natural: We use 100% natural, plant-based ingredients that are soothing and safe for the skin. The "Zen" Factor: The repetitive motions of henna are naturally meditative, helping students relax, focus, and find their "flow state." Brain Power: Learning these intricate patterns builds new neural pathways, sharpens fine motor skills, and skyrockets creative confidence. Join us this summer to leave your mark—literally!
