This course introduces students to publishing skills and the world of journalism through interactive workshops and peer collaboration. During this session, campers are led through the process of creating their very own journalistic publication alongside their peers. Throughout the camp, students will learn new and unique writing skills, how to conduct interviews, and the fundamentals of photography and graphic design. Campers will cover and report on instructor-provided stories, news events, sports tournaments, and more by interviewing sources and working with one another. By the end of the session, each group of campers will have designed an original publication of their own. It will surely excite and engage students about journalism and help them create lasting bonds before entering high school. This course is taught by the Yearbook Adviser to the award-winning Saint Francis Poverello.
