This is the course for students who have completed German 3 (Grade 9/10). German language competency required to enroll in German 4HNRS Understanding: The student should be ready to understand the main idea of complex texts about concrete and abstract themes. S/he should be able to follow different kind of content on the TV or radio. The learner should be able to summarize these main ideas. Speaking: The student should be able to share his/her point of view. S/he should be able to talk in more complex sentences. The student should be able to discuss topics like different kinds of living, and work or school. At a B2 language level speaking is coming more naturally to the language learner. Reading: The student should begin to be able to fluently read texts and articles at a B2 level. Writing: The student should be able to write in complex and structured sentences. S/he should be also able to analyze short slogans and refer to the main content/idea. S/he should be able to present in an essay the pros and cons to different topics. Grammar: The student should know enough German grammar to be able to write and speak German without being misunderstood. S/he knows how to apply negation and comparison with als/wie and je... desto/umso. The language learner should be able to identify modal sentences as well as passive sentences.
