This is the continuation of the DaF Level 2 course from the Fall Semester. German language competency required to enroll in DaF Level 2 – Spring Semester: Understanding: The student should be able to understand short sentences about themes such as sports, leisure activities, school, colors, and animals. S/he should be able to understand short statements about time, and numbers up to 20. Speaking: The student should be able to from short sentences in the present tense with key vocabulary for themes such as sports, leisure activities, school, colors, and animals. S/he should be able to express likes and dislikes, pose and answer Yes/No questions, and give definitions of time and place. The student should be able to have conversations with 1-2 exchanges. Reading: The student should be able to read and understand short texts with 3-4 short sentences, including imperative work instructions. The student should be able to read short texts with 3-4 short sentences aloud with somewhat correct pronunciation. Writing: The student should be able to correctly spell key vocabulary words for themes such as sports, leisure activities, school, colors, numbers, and animals. S/he should be able to respond in writing to short question prompts about time, likes/dislikes, and school activities. Grammar: The student should be able to conjugate key verbs in the first three forms (ich, du, er/sie/es), such as spielen, heißen, sein, kommen, machen, möchten, müssen, haben. S/he should be able to assign the definite and indefinite article for key vocabulary nouns for themes such as sports, leisure activities, school, everyday objects, and animals. S/he should be able to form short statements and questions with correct sentence order.
