Emergencies can happen anywhere, and the actions taken during the first few minutes can make all the difference. This hands-on course, taught by an experienced first responder, teaches participants how to recognize life-threatening bleeding, apply direct pressure, pack wounds, properly use commercial tourniquets, and provide immediate care until professional responders arrive. Participants will also learn how bloodborne pathogens are transmitted, methods to reduce exposure, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe practices when providing emergency care. Ideal for families, workplaces, coaches, volunteers, and community members, this course builds the confidence to act quickly while protecting both the patient and the rescuer. Successful participants receive two-year HSI Stop Life-Threatening Bleeding and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications.
