In 2021, Teen Green and 420 Blue will be taught as a joint class at the Jetties Sailing Center. Sailors, who are placed in either level by the Program Directors are invited to participate. At just under 14' in length, 420s are often sailed in collegiate programs and allow the student the opportunity to sail with one other student in a more sensitive and technical racing dinghy. Students will be evaluated upon entering each session and, while the class will be taught as a single group at times, it will also often be divided according to skill level. Our newer “Teen Green” level sailors will be introduced to the 420 and work on securing the basic skills involved in double-handed sailing. Our intermediate “420 Blue” level sailors will be introduced to the basics of flying a spinnaker, using a trapeze and roll tacking, among other skills. We ask that students wear appropriate shoes (closed-toe) when participating. The 420 Blue class is held at the Jetties Sailing Center Monday - Friday mornings from 9 AM - 11:30 AM.
