About This Activity
Join us for a magical day of imagination and hands-on fun at The Art of Puppetry, a one-day workshop for K–5th grade students! Led by Curve art teacher Val Smith, students will discover the colorful world of puppetry by exploring several different types of puppets—from shadow puppets to hand puppets and beyond. Throughout the day, students will design and create their own unique puppets, learning basic techniques in storytelling, character creation, and movement. The workshop encourages creativity, self-expression, and collaborative play in a welcoming, artistic environment. The day ends with a special treat—a live performance by Wishing Chair Productions Puppet Truck from the Nashville Public Library, bringing professional puppetry to life in a show students won’t forget! It’s a day full of art, laughter, learning, and puppetry magic! **All Friday workshops include a break for lunch and supervised outdoor or indoor play/free time with friends!
