Our High School World History course will investigate world history through a variety of historical and cultural anthropological models. Beginning with the dawn of Human Civilization, we will progress through the Age of Empires, the rise and fall of Kingdoms, the birth of the Nation State, and into our modern period. Students will learn what we “factually know” about world history, what we “think” we know about this story, and what we “pretend” to know but truly can't confirm. Additionally, we will learn that the lens of history is rarely objective. We will unpack how versions of the same history, often are documented very differently when comparing the winning and losing sides of the game. Real history isn’t about dry “dates” and “facts.” Real history is more intriguing. It’s gonna get weird. Estimated work assigned outside of class: 2-3 hours. This class is designed to meet the TN State graduation requirements for 1 history credit. Teacher: John Dvorachek
