Instructor: Anna McDowell Bring your ideas to life—one frame at a time! In this beginner-friendly teen camp, students will dive into the world of stop motion animation, creating original short films using polymer clay characters and paper silhouettes. Campers will learn the fundamentals of animation, including storyboarding, character design, and frame-by-frame movement. They’ll sculpt expressive characters and cut out backgrounds that will help them explore shape, shadow, and visual storytelling in a whole new way. Students will also use the Stop Motion Studio app to capture and edit their animations, gaining hands-on experience with simple digital tools. As they animate their scenes, students will experiment with timing, movement, and basic effects to create dynamic, engaging films. Along the way, they’ll build problem-solving skills, collaborate with peers, and gain confidence in bringing their creative ideas from concept to screen. Perfect for teens who are new to animation and excited to turn imagination into motion. On the final day of camp, we invite parents to a special reception to celebrate their artists and to see the work your kids have created throughout the week. Campers must have a phone that can download the app, which is free of charge.
