In this civic-minded workshop for 6th–8th grade students, participants will learn how government works—from the branches of government to how bills are created and passed. Students will brainstorm their own ideas for new laws, work in groups to draft a bill, and practice debating and presenting their proposals. The workshop culminates in attending the Middle School Youth in Government event in Nashville on May 8th, where students will represent The Curve, collaborate with peers from across the region, and work to pass their bills in a real legislative simulation. Teacher: Lily Lewis This class takes place April 3, 10, 17, and 24. Our group will attend the Youth in Government Conference in Nashville May 8th from 8 AM - 5 PM. **All workshops include a break for lunch and free time with friends.
