Health equity is a core responsibility of nursing leadership and a critical driver of improved patient and population health outcomes. This e-learning module, Champion of Change: Health Equity and Social Determinants of Health for Nurse Leaders, explores how social, economic, environmental, and systemic factors influence health and contribute to disparities in care. Learners will examine key social determinants of health (SDOH), including structural racism, socioeconomic status, education, and access to resources, while developing strategies to integrate this knowledge into clinical practice, policy development, and community engagement. The course emphasizes the nurse leader’s role in advocating for equitable care and implementing system-level change that addresses root causes of inequity. Designed for nurse leaders across all settings, this module builds the knowledge and skills needed to lead with a health equity lens and advance just, inclusive healthcare systems. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. To earn continuing education credit, participants must complete both the Nurse Leader pre-assessment and post-assessment. Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded 0.75 ANCC contact hours.
