About This Activity

Nurse leaders play a critical role in shaping healthcare systems at the intersection of clinical care, economics, and policy. This e-learning module, Strategic Nurse Leadership: Economics, Policy, and Advocacy in Healthcare, provides a foundation for understanding how financial and policy decisions influence care delivery, staffing, and organizational sustainability. Learners will explore core healthcare economic principles, examine key policies that guide nursing leadership, and analyze the financial impact of clinical and operational decisions. The course also emphasizes advocacy strategies to support safe, accessible, and high-quality care while promoting nurse well-being. Designed for nurse leaders at all levels, this module strengthens the ability to lead strategically within complex and resource-constrained healthcare environments. Vanderbilt University School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation. To earn continuing education credit, participants must complete both the Nurse Leader pre-assessment and post-assessment. Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded 0.75 ANCC contact hours.
