Dive into the world of freshwater science with the Cumberland River Compact in this hands-on workshop designed to connect students with the health of local streams and rivers. Students will get up close and personal with live benthic macroinvertebrates—the tiny critters that live in creek beds and act as important indicators of water quality. Using both biological and chemical data, students will investigate the health of a nearby stream, learning how scientists assess ecosystem wellbeing. Then, working in teams, students will brainstorm and design creative projects aimed at improving stream health and protecting our precious waterways. This workshop combines outdoor exploration, scientific investigation, and environmental stewardship—empowering students to become true waterway champions! **All workshops include a break for lunch and outside/inside time with friends.
