About This Activity
Description
Fishing is a fun and inexpensive way to celebrate Independence Day! The NC Wildlife Resources Commission invites anglers and would-be anglers of all ages to go fishing for free on July 4th. Everyone in NC (residents and non-residents) can fish in any public body of water, including coastal waters, without a fishing license. Although no license is required, all other fishing regulations, such as size, creel limits and lure restrictions still apply.Harris Lake County Park staff will have fishing rods for you to borrow and will be on hand to provide basic instruction or other assistance. Preregistration is encouraged in order to guarantee equipment; otherwise, fishing poles are available on a first-come, first-served basis or you can bring your own. Bring your own bait or use ours. For all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). *Due to construction associated with the park bond improvements, you will need to park in the first gravel lot on your left and walk across the road to access the pond.
Registration is encouraged in order to guarantee equipment. Park in the first gravel lot on your left after you enter the park and walk across the road to access the pond. Bring a full water bottle and your own bait or use ours.
