About This Activity

This course examines the fundamental issues surrounding sports in our society. By analyzing the relationship between sports and various social spheres – including family, education, politics, the economy, and media – participants will gain a greater appreciation for the impact of sports on our daily lives. We will also explore how participation in sports influences people's views on their bodies, gender, social class, and race and ethnicity. Other topics covered in this course include violence in sports, ethical considerations in youth sports, and intercollegiate sports.
