This class is perfect for students eager to explore visual arts across a variety of mediums. Over the course of the semester, students will work with Art Camp 504 teaching artists to develop skills in illustration, drawing fundamentals, watercolor techniques, mixed media collage, sculpture, and more. Projects include costume pieces, clay figurines and miniatures, textured prints and more. Our goal is to nurture a love of art and creativity in our youngest artists! With a small group format, this class allows for individual attention and flexibility—projects are often guided by student interests and feedback to ensure an engaging and personalized experience. MEET THE INSTRUCTOR: Camille Barnett (she/her) was born and raised here in New Orleans, and she has lived here for the entirety of her life (with the exception of 4 years of college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette). She works as a local freelance photographer that documents events and stories surrounding New Orleans history and culture. She also works in Preservation Jazz Hall's education department, where she assists with day programming for local and traveling students that visit for jazz performances. She has been an Art Camp teacher during both summer and school year camps since 2022, and she looks forward to being able to continue to show campers how they can use art to learn about and express themselves. At Art Camp, she can be called Captain Joy!
