In this Creative Writing & Illustration camp, students will learn how stories come to life. We’ll explore plot, setting, characters, conflict, and suspense as campers write and illustrate an original story or script of their own. Throughout the session, students will move back and forth between writing and drawing—drafting, revising, and refining their work—before turning it into a finished, beautifully bound book. Students who want to take their projects further can choose an optional add-on class. Bookbinding introduces simple sewing techniques to create hand-bound books and custom covers. Screenwriting focuses on shaping stories for the screen and learning basic script formatting, making it a great option for students interested in Film Camp or adapting their story into a short film. At the end of the session, families are invited to a book reading and art showcase where students share their stories and celebrate their work together. We are offering this camp twice - at the beginning and then again at the end of the Summer. Campers are welcome to sign up for one or both—returning students can continue their story, write a sequel, or start something entirely new!
