Have you ever wanted to add some pizazz to forgotten fashion items hiding in your closet? In this class, students will learn fundamental hand-embroidery techniques and explore how to use colorful threads, beads, sequins, and other embellishments to design unique patterns and accents. Once the basics are mastered, students will apply their designs to a self-supplied clothing item of their choice- jeans, jackets, hats, dresses, or any sturdy fabric item- transforming old duds into fabulous, one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art. This eco-conscious course encourages creativity, self-expression, and sustainability by giving new life to clothing in fun, stylish ways. Please note: Students should bring a clothing item made of sturdy fabric (e.g., denim, canvas, or cotton).
