The best way to stay safe around snakes is to learn how to identify them. Join an environmental educator to learn how to identify the most common snakes found in Chesterfield County, and how to coexist with them. Observe an ambassador snake from Rockwood Nature Center up close to learn more about snake biology.Program information:
- Program is held outdoors and indoors.
- Guardians are required to accompany participants, no drop-offs.
- Hiking footwear is recommended. Trails have periodic benches for resting.
- It is recommended to dress participants in weather-appropriate clothing and bring a water bottle.
- Distance traveled will be between 0.25 and 0.5 miles.
- Outdoor surfaces traveled on in this program include: paved trails, dirt trails with roots and uneven surfaces, and creek beds.
- This program includes visual, auditory, and tactile elements.
