Learn in this 4 week class the fundamentals of sewing, quilting techniques, tips and tricks on a manageable scale with Heather! By the end of class, you will complete a beautiful baby size quilt or four quilted place mats. Focusing on teaching you the basics of sewing you will get the opportunity to create your own simple quilt blocks with a pattern of your own choice that is simple and fun! Skill requirements: Beginner There are no prerequisites for this class; no sewing experience is necessary. These classes are for brand new sewers who have no sewing machine experience or for those who have not sewn in a long time. Please note: depending on how fast you learn, you may have homework to complete between classes. Ages 16+, or taking class with a trusted adult. In this workshop you will learn: New sewing vocabulary How to thread and operate your machine Fabric grainlines The properties of quilting cotton Proper cutting techniques How to piece quilt blocks How to assemble a quilt "sandwich" How to quilt the pieced top, batting, and backing How to bind your quilt or place mats What We Provide: Equipment: sewing machines and all tools What You Provide: Sewing machine (optional): we highly encourage to bring your own sewing machine, if you have one. Don't forget to pack the manual, foot pedal & power cord! But dont worry we have machines if available if needed. Snacks & Refreshments: We encourage you to send snacks and refreshments as it’s much easier to be creative when you have fuel for the brain!
