During our summer camp experiences, educators will immerse themselves alongside students, adopting the perspective of a learner with educator insight. Engaging fully in all activities and skills, they'll also serve as vigilant overseers for student safety. Through these paid externship opportunities, teachers will glean firsthand understanding of the skills, hurdles, and potential paths in diverse STEM fields. Our aim is for educators to re-enter classrooms invigorated and equipped to infuse their teaching with newfound knowledge and enthusiasm, igniting inspiration in their students. Students will receive firsthand training and technical exercises in fillet welding with an introduction to flat groove welding with gas metal arc welding or flux core arc welding, as well as handheld plasma cutting processes. Explore the exciting and rewarding careers available in the Welding and Metal Fabricating Industry. Qualify for an American Welding Society (AWS)certification. Clothing requirements for safety: Long sleeve cotton shirt, jeans with no rips or frays, high cotton socks. Leather work boots required; steel-toed boots preferred. Please Note: To ensure equitable access, we kindly ask that each educator limits their initial registration to two externship opportunities. This will allow as many participants as possible to take advantage of these experiences. After the first two weeks of registration, we will open remaining spots to those interested in additional opportunities. Thank you for your understanding and support!
