About This Activity

Some kids love music but aren’t sure where to start. This four-day beginner camp helps students discover that they really can play an instrument—and start making music right away. In a relaxed and encouraging group setting, students will learn: How to tune their ukulele Basic strumming patterns The C scale Their first four chords Those simple tools unlock dozens of real songs, and we’ll learn a bunch of them together from the best-selling book Two Chord Camp Songs for Ukulele (included with the class) filled with fun, silly, slightly crazy songs kids love to sing. By the end of the week, students won’t just understand the basics—they’ll hear themselves playing real music with others. Parents are invited to join us for the final 15 minutes of class on July 31 for a short pop-up performance where students can demonstrate how far they’ve come in just a few days. No previous experience is required—just bring a ukulele and be ready to play. QUESTIONS: If you have any questions, or need a recommendation for a first ukulele and/or an electronic clip-on tuner (optional, but really helpful), don't hesitate to contact the instructor: ryan@ukuleleplay.com ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: M.
