Explore, Hike, and Discover the Wild Side of Camp!
WI-LD Trekkers is the first level of Camp Nissokone's Wilderness Immersion & Leadership Development program, designed for campers entering Grade 7 who are ready to explore beyond base camp and experience their first real backcountry adventure.Campers begin the week learning essential outdoor skills including:
- Hiking preparation and gear packing
- Map reading and navigation
- Leave No Trace principles
- Outdoor cooking and campsite setup
- Wilderness teamwork and safety
Trekkers is about more than hiking. It's an opportunity to build confidence, independence, resilience, and friendships while discovering what you're capable of outdoors.
Schedule:
- Check-In: Sunday, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
- Check-Out: Saturday, 10:00 a.m.
Registration Details
- Deposit: $100 per camper, per session — non-refundable and non-transferable
- Multi-Activity Discount: Save 5% on each additional activity
Plans change—we understand! Cancellation requests should be emailed to camp@ymcadetroit.org. Your $100 deposit is non-refundable. For cancellations made April 1, 2027 or later, an additional $50 cancellation fee per camper, per session applies. Fees are refundable only in the case of illness or injury with a written note from a physician to YMCA Camping Services.In the case of homesickness, dismissal, voluntary withdrawal, late arrivals, or early departures, there will be no refund of fees. Cancellations received less than 7 days before the start of your session are not eligible for a refund or credit.More details: ymcadetroit.org/camp
